Restoran Mei Loon Sing Kee, Sungai Way New Village

These days I'm craving for Chinese dishes rather than Western cuisine in shopping malls. Probably because my office is located in a mall and the daily lunch menu consist of shopping mall food. Pig is on leave these few days thus went to try quite a lot of shops these few days.

I've heard that there are good Chinese restaurant in Sungai Way but I've never venture this area before. With the help of Waze, here I am in Sungai Way New Village. Was finding for a place to dine and stumbled across this Restoran Mei Loon Sing Kee where they are quite a number of people dining there at that time.

Parking was fuss free because they provide some parking area in front of the shop. There are no menu available and the waiter will read their dishes for you. Food came quite fast right after we ordered too which us good when your stomach is growling.

 It's dinner time.

Stirred fried "Cheng Long Choi", RM8
This is so - so only compared to the one I've try at those big restaurants. The dish came with green vegetables and garlic which is a bit not so appealing compared to the usual one I've eaten. This typical dish normally comes with tauge, thin sliced of salted fish and mixtures of many other vegetables in other places. Probably the owner put the same dish name but in actual fact; it's a different ingredient with the usual one?

Special Bean curd dish, RM12
Bean curd is a must have when dining at a Chinese restaurant :)  Overall, nothing special but they did claimed it's their special homemade bean curd.

"Ham Dan Pai Kuat" or Salted Egg Pork Ribs, RM22
I love this ! Fried boneless pork ribs coated with salted egg. However, the salted egg taste is not that strong. It would be better if they put more salted egg to the sauce or batter when frying the pork ribs. Perhaps anyone have a better place to recommend for this dish?

Dinner for 2 on pig's off day
It's my first time dining in Sungai Way New Village. For the price of RM44 for the 3 dishes above including 2 white rice, it's quite affordable. Do note that their drinks are order and paid separately from this tai chow stall.

Caffe Bene, Sunway Pyramid

Here's a short post on our recent visit to Caffe Bene, Sunway Pyramid.

Caffe Bene had just recently opened its first outlet in Sunway Pyramid. Perfect as a hang out area for students who named Sunway Pyramid as their second home. Too bad that I had graduated from Taylor's Lakeside or else; I will haunt visit this place everyday.

Got to know this place from my friend, Sidney. Read more about his reviews here.

Was going there to try their famous waffles but it was sold out when we were there :(

Instead, we tried their Affogato and Gelato.

This is what you get after paying + your receipt + your change (if any)
Using the same concept as Snowflakes; customers are given this beeping thing where when your food are ready, this round alike thing will vibrate and you can collect the food at the counter.

Affogato with Vanilla Ice-Cream, RM8

Love their creamy ice-cream :)

This is the concentrated coffee to bath melt the creamy ice-cream.

This happens when the coffee marries the ice-cream :)
Love their Affogato to the max !

Gelato (Espresso), RM6 for single scope
I'm gonna make more trips to get this ice-cream! Lovin it.

Restoran Paramount SengFatt

These days, we often search for some tai chow shops to dine in rather than going into the mall. Probably because we spend most of our time in the mall that we crave for tai chow food.

Another few minutes drive from SS2 is Taman Paramount, Petaling Jaya. There are lots of tai chow shops in this area where you can choose according to your pocket size.

This time we step into this Restoran Restaurant SengFatt. Recommended by my dear friend J. It was almost full at the moment we arrived and was lucky to get a table for 2. They have a Chinese menu on the wall but was told by the friendly auntie to ignore the menu and she will recommend the dishes available for the day.

Here's our dinner for the day:

"Tao Kon Taufu" or Dried Beancurd Stick with Beancurd

I'm a tofu beancurd lover and of course I love this dish. Their oyster sauce blend well with the beancurd and the mixed vegetables were fresh and crunch in my mouth. But it's something that I could cook at home. Well, it's more convenient to order it from the shop as it saves time :)

"Hong Siew Pai Kuat" or known as Fried Honey Pork Ribs?  or anyone got a better translation?
Love their pork ribs. Comes in a big portion than other shops plus their pork ribs have less bone and more meat for you to munch on. It taste a little bit sweet and salty and looks as if it's honey pork ribs. Or probably they mixed honey/sweet sauce to marinate it before frying. We got a surprised when they served this dish due to the portion because normally pork ribs are served more bones that meat in other shops.

"Ching Chow Fan Shu Yip" or Stir-fry Sweet Potato Leaves

Any dinner is not complete without a plate of fresh greens. I love sweet potato leaves and when I'm young; I used to eat this everyday because there's plenty of them in the garden. They are easy to plant and grow too. If you are lucky; you can find sweet potato fruit under the leaves after some time. Best stir-fry with belacan but I prefer it stir-fry with garlic because belacan will cover the smell and taste of the greens in the sweet potato leaves.

Comfort food for 2 on a rainy day.
Overall, this place serves good and affordable food. Most dishes comes in big portion. The portion above are in small portion and the total bill for 3 bowls of rice plus drinks comes to RM43.90. Do come early if you would like to get a table without waiting for long. When I was leaving the shop at about 8pm, there's a big crowd and luckily we were there early.

If case you can't find this shop, this shop is a corner shop located on the same row as Kong Sai Chai in front of Giant supermarket in Taman Paramount.

...

Since we're in BU area, we had been going to this food court nearby where it's open till late night. We had usually bought food from the dim sum stall but tonight; we decided to try other stalls instead.

Ding dong,

The food which was ordered 5 minutes ago had just been served on the table.

1. Paid for the bill.
2. Trying so hard to even have a taste of it.
3. Push and left the whole plate untouched.

 The End .

That was how I had my dinner/supper just now. If a food seller don't have the interest/motivation to serve customer delicious food; then it's best that they don't open a food stall. You might go out of business sooner or later. Yes, the food might be fully cooked and edible but the whole damn plate is horrible that I think my dog's food taste better. Imagine you are served with a plate of minced pork tofu rice where it was served on 2 paper plates stacking on top of each other (because one of the paper plate was immersed with gravy that it might tear off - that the seller put another paper plate underneath the 1st paper plate). To make things worst, the rice is cold and hard (it's leftover rice from the day before) where the gravy was barely hot with a few piece of pathetic tofu. It's not worth to pay 8 bucks for this rubbish. We can even cook a better version of this at home.

I'm more pissed off with the overall presentation and look of the meal. I even thought that it might be someone else's leftover food when the server was bringing it to our table. The gravy was obviously "dumped" on the cold rice as if the cook was forced to cook this dish.

Moral of the story: We will only visit one particular stall in this food court which we had been eating all these while. Will never eat any other stall in this food court anymore even it's FREE!

 The end.

Restaurant New Paris, SS2

Ever since I've moved to PJ, SS2 has been our weekly dinner place just like how Sunway Pyramid used to be our second home back when we were living in Subang Jaya. One of the famous tai chow restaurant in SS2 is this New Paris Restaurant. Was introduced by my ex-internship boss during one of the lunch together.

Despite the massive traffic jam at LDP highway, we still managed to reach this place at about 7 something. It was drizzling and luckily that we could park our car right outside the restaurant. As what I heard and read, this place is crowded but one thing for sure. I've noticed that every single table have at least a few dishes in common such as this --> Honey Chicken served in watermelon.

Have you wonder why? You will know about it when you order your meal. I've tried this "famous" dish when I dine there last time. Taste wise; it's some marinated chicken and they don't practically cook that watermelon with chicken. The watermelon served as a decoration and as a so-called "dessert". We asked the waitress about anything special on the menu and was told about all that few dishes which we had took a glance on other tables. I was like "------------" . Finally, we make our choice with these four dishes which we ordered in small portion size. Mind you that these dishes were served like 10 minutes right after we ordered. True indeed. This place is also famous for being like a "fast-food restaurant".

It's dinner time. chop chop..

Sweet and sour pork.

Minced pork tofu

Guinness pork ribs

Spinach soup

Overall, the dishes are ordinary. Nothing surprising. The only good  factor is that their price is considered cheap for a tai chow restaurant and food are served within 10 minutes - good for those who are in a rush. These four dishes with drinks and white rice only costs below RM60.

If you are dining here on Monday, there's a SS2 night market/pasar malam nearby this restaurant. It's only a 5 minutes drive to the night market.

When the wind from the past blows....

In a blink of eye, four years of uni life passed quickly.

First year, exciting and ..... climbing up

Second year, missing and lossing

Third year, A new start

Fourth Year, heading towards a new direction

Finally, it's the last week of uni life, 2 more days to go till start of study break and finally exams.
I will miss all the ups and downs moment throughout these four years.

Uni life is interesting. Exams and assignments is not a barrier to a youthful uni life but it complements an exciting uni life. I missed doing assignments too. The moment when hard work and effort is put and resulted in a satisfied result.

People used to say we have to look ahead for future and not reflect about the past. But sometimes, thinking about past is interesting.

I enjoy my uni life to the fullest - my way.

Foundation was interesting, new stage in life. you're finally called a 'college student'. new friends, new environment, the start of us and our cold war..

First year of degree, a changed of environment, new friends who I'm glad they were there especially when I'm in the lowest point of my life, I never regret the decision I took in my life.

Thinking back, I would still do the same if it happens today. Take a crazy decision in your life and experience the difference in you. !

Second year, a new start of us here in where my uni life is. Building our so called new home and new memories. Singapore and Langkawi and many places we went together.

Third year, memorable and a goodbye to uni life. Time flies.....

....................................................................................................................................................................

Two years passed.... exactly 2 years and 31 days...

I'm glad that I make that decision.

Recently, one of my friend asked what is a 'strong woman'...

I would define it as someone who can take all the responsibilities and able to take in charge of your life when you are at the lowest point of your life.

I'm sure that you're be surprised that I do have my lowest point of my life. Yes, I do...

Here's a question to ask:
What if one day, you found out that there's a third party in your relationship?

Break up? Scold him? Scold the third party?

That's everyone's reaction. It's normal. It's not wrong to express your unhappiness !

I did too.. counting the minutes and hours throughout the whole night. Suddenly, I felt that one hour is freaking long while the eyes surrender to tears which kept flowing. The next morning, I walked like a zombie in uni and nearly cried in front of my respected + idol lecturer, Mr. Micheal.

Few hours after that, I went back to Ipoh, visited all the places we used to hangout.. and confronted him at his work place. I choose to stay with him while he can have her and me at the same time. My condition is that her presence must not interrupt our current relationship. We agreed peacefully.

Time passed, 12 days after that... the battle is won. The third party kinda played on him where she had bf all these while. Consistently, he lost everything..... fired from job without a penny left.

I pulled him back to reality, brought him to a new environment where I belong.......to a real life battlefield where he gained success again in work. Becoming exactly how an ideal man should be.

And yes, I love him. Because of love and determination, you can take control of any situation in your life and changed other people's life too.

What about the three parties relationship? It was a bitter sweet one like dark chocolate. It may look bitter but it actually taste sweet... You learn to appreciate things around you more... and  you know that your beloved one is here with you but you need to shared it with other people when the clock strikes. The best thing is, I have never meet or talk to the third party till today but only saw her profile on FB twice. Her presence in our relationship had make us love and appreciate each other more....

I'm sure that anyone out there can too.. Be patience and look everything in a positive way. It will changed your life. !

It's the FIRST day of semester break for Feb-July 2012.

BBB and I woke up early in the morning and went to Calvary Carnival at Taylor's Lakeside Campus.

We reached uni at 9am and there's many people there already. Yummy smell of food and noisy sounds of people trying to sell their goods is around the campus. The whole campus is full of people and it's kinda alive. I'm proud to be a Taylorian.. yay !

The cheapest food in the carnival. For normal fun fair or food fair, they sell 1 booklet of coupons for RM10 with 10 coupons which means RM1 per coupon. Here, it's more expensive than other food fair. RM20 for 1 booklet of 10 pieces of coupon which means RM2 per coupon. Selling price?, it's around 3 coupon above for food.

uni is so lively. Food stalls above and below ...

In the Multipurpose Main Hall (MPH) too but it's merchandise, not food =.=

Outside the MPH hall, there's even more food.
Ducks for sale.! Check out the price: 1 bird for 30 coupons which means RM2x30 = RM60. Too pricey.

BIG Bakery is here too. Their outlet in Publika is too far for us here in Subang. When they come to uni, we GRAB!

After walking around, we bought some food and sit down at the chairs provided at the shuttle us car park.

Here's the food we ate here. Minus the one we tapao!!

Have an enjoyable day at Calvary Carnival 2012. Their food are pricier than outside but it's delicious with some famous food stalls around Klang Valley featured. Save transport cost to get to their original outlet though. Anyway, bought some sweet herbal tea and cakes from BIG Bakery home too.

Dinner is served. from piggy

After having the sumptuous lunch at Retro Kitchen. We walked to Free Mori, a new bakery store which is the next hype among bread lovers. The original store is in SS2. The one which just opened in SS15 is only a branch. The one in SS2 offers more varieties of bread. The layout of store is super nice.

Have a feeling of walking along a row of shops in oversea.

Then, it started to rain and took a cab back home instead. Continue studying till around 4.30pm where we went down to Mid Valley for the launching of Forever 21 outlet there. Got this lucky draw. i got a 20% discount voucher while piggy got a towel which in the end is mine too. MUAhahhaha...

Forever 21 Mid Valley
Since there's too many people and don't feel like squeezing through for shopping. Went down to the Jusco supermarket to get some grocery to cook dinner. Now, can cook at piggy's place. He had moved to his new place since June with a larger room and house than the previous lousy hostel.

Piggy in action dealing with the belacan ubi kayu

The dinner is served. Belacan ubi kayu and braised soy-sauce chicken with mushroom, egg, brencurd and condiments.

That's not all. There's still dessert bought from Free Mori in the afternoon.

Panda Mousse

Comes with a cute little cup.
Have 3 layers with cake sponge at the bottom, some strawberry feeling in the middle and top with vanilla mousse.

Cute little panda
Chocolate creampuff.

Super bloated with the dinner. Gonna continue studying..

Retro Kitchen SS2

It's my piggy's off day but I haven't finish studying for my financial planning and market research paper. busy doing the FP A4 size cheat sheet which can bring into the exam hall.  Went out with bbb to Retro Kitchen, SS2 to use the RM30 cash voucher which I won from 'FOOD''s FB page. Use this opportunity to try out their food.

Retro Kitchen is located upstairs on the first floor above the 7-11. Lookout for MCD in SS2 and walk along the street until you see the 7-11 or the AMBank nearby.

Menu

The interior of the cafe. you can find some interesting collectibles here.

Some interesting glass

Remember the 'CAPTAIN OATS' can. I remember seeing my grandma cooks her breakfast using this thing last time. Bet there's no more oats sold in can form.

Old collection of CDs on the wall.

Here comes our meal:

Retro Kitchen's new creation launched a day before we came; CHEESY PORK BURGER

Cheesy Pork Burger served with fries and coleslaw, Rm15.90

The pork burger patties was lovely. It has the same taste as the steamed minced pork with onions and choy poh. Or maybe it's using the same dishes to create the legendary pork meat patties. Somehow, it's awesome.

Piggy with his pork burger.

Look at the cheese powder. yummy

Chicken Parmigiana, RM18.00

Breaded chicken with cheese and ham served with fries and coleslaw. It gives a super cheesy feeling. One thing I love about their coleslaw is that they are made to order. Got that fresh and crunchy feeling with eating it.

To complement our meal, we add another mushroom soup after those main meal arrived. It's their homemade mushroom soup! Reminds me of my olden days learning how to cook mushroom soup from the basic during my Kemahiran Hidup Club back in school last time. Good to have a try. I'll be back for more of this super nice soup.

The Real Mushroom Soup, RM9.90.

The meal ended up with a refreshing drink ordered by piggy. He had the green apple with kasturi and umbra (RM6.90). It taste good and not bitter but sourly sweet with a taste better than ice lemon tea.

The meal costs us RM56.85 and with RM30 off, it costs us RM26.85 for 2 person.
