Pudu Chan Fatt Wanton Mee, Damansara Uptown

Pudu Chan Fatt Wanton Mee; a shop specialised in noodle; wanton mee in particular and roasted meat. This is not an ordinary wanton mee shop as it has a long standing history dated back in 1955. It used to operate in the Pudu Market back in 1955 to 1996.

And NOW – in 2017; the family members of its founder is bringing this perfect bowl of wanton mee a comeback for its loyal customers to enjoy. Today, the NEW Pudu Chan Fatt Wanton Mee is conveniently located at Damansara Uptown. [Damansara Uptown might be a place that you can’t find parking. You can park at Starling Mall located right in the middle of this commercial area and walk out to your makan place].

This NEW Pudu Chan Fatt Wanton Mee offers a long list of noodles, roasted meats and rice bowl choices. The best part: the homemade yet delicious dishes are sold at a really affordable price that you can afford in Damansara Uptown.

Do check out their NEW menu below.

Noodles

This is the classic char siew wanton me, RM7.50; the essence of its long standing history. The wanton mee served is made in-house with the traditional way of kneading and rolling with a huge bamboo pole. And its roasted meat aka char siew is freshly made in its kitchen along with the meaty wanton aka soup dumplings.

A bowl of hot pipping noodle with delicious homemade lion head meat balls, RM8.50. Lion head meatballs is something unique on this menu. Usually, this lion head meatballs is served as a dish in a traditional Chinese banquet dinner; with red and brown laden gravy on a bed of chinese cabbage. Now, you can have it with your favourite bowl of wanton mee or kuey teow or rice vermicelli on a daily basics.

This is the alternative to wanton noodles; Sui Kaw Noodle RM8.50 which comes with 3pcs of large sized homemade dumplings aka Sui Kaw. A type of comfort food that you'll be craving for after a long day at work.

A porky-licious bowl of Lam Yu Pork Noodles, RM8.50 comes with generous pieces of deep fried lam yu pork, fried pork lard and noodles. The pork fillet is marinated with great flavours before deep frying in hot oil and the pork lard add some texture to the noodles. You'll be craving for more.

A menu is not complete without some curry or spicy dishes. Curry lovers will be delighted to know that Curry Laksa with Chicken, RM7.50 is on the new menu. It comes with a flavourful bowl of curry topped with generous pieces of chicken meat and the usual curry lasksa condiments such as dried beancurd (taufu pok), fucuk and a lime wedges to spice up your meal.

Roasted Meat and Rice Bowls

The New Pudu Chan Fatt also offers rice bowls dishes on its menu. This rice menu focuses on its roasted meats as the core. Among the roasted meats available daily are roasted chicken, duck, crispy pork (siew york) and pork (char siew). As for rice, you can pick from a choice of White rice or Hainan rice (also known as oiled rice). Both types of rice are priced at RM1.50 for small and RM2.00 for big size. If youre an adventurous person, you can go for a combo rice option where you can choose from either 2 or 3 types of roasted meat combination.

Just Seafood, Sunway Giza Mall

Time flies when happy moments come along. The last month was kind-a-like a holiday month for me with numerous trips filled into the slots. And I’m back to introduce more delicious food to satisfy your craving – and yes, do stay tune for my trips post too.

Anyone love seafood here? #IshallraisedmyhandastallasIcould! #onlyforseafood #onlyseafood #yes,JustSeafood #JustSeafood Just Seafood, the seafood lovers must-try place.

Happy customers with their seafood!

Situated inside on the Ground Floor (not sure if it’s called Ground Floor – but it’s right at the makan place where all the restaurants are) of Sunway Giza Mall, Just Seafood brings you the new-way-of-eating-seafood which is the ‘in-thing’ nowadays.

Instead of the traditional way of enjoying seafood (the gigantic bowl or elegant way of platting the seafood) with those fancy platting and props, there’s no ‘serveware’ or serving bowls/plates needed here. These delicious, finger licking good seafood are served on the table directly – with only one layer of white baking paper that divides the food with the table.

Check out the stylish way of serving your seafood below.

And did I mention that there’s no cutlery too? (Well, you could asked for one if you need to) Throw that spoon or fork or knife of yours away and voila, the yummylicious seafood fits into your delicate fingers better.  You are encouraged to eat with your hands to feel the texture and freshness of the seafood which you’re about to pop into your mouth. Well, of course; the restaurant provides disposable hand gloves so that your pretty manicure can stay safe and prevent you from having the fresh seaside smell on your fingers at the end of the meal.

The menu is quite simple. They offer set meals that fits 1-2 pax, 3-4 pax as well as for 5-7 pax. Each of these sets comes with meaty crabs, giant prawns, XXL prawns, clams, Chilean mussels, squids, potatoes, carrots, corn with rice or toasted bread – the only different between one set from another is the different grams of each type of seafood. If you’re ordering the 5-7pax, the weight of each type of seafood in the set will be more than the one in a set fits for 1-2 pax.

Overall, the seafood in Just Seafood is served in 3 different types of sauces namely Louisiana Cajun, Butter Milk and Creamy Peanut. According to the founder of Just Seafood; Terence Ham, ‘Just Seafood’s signature sauces are inspired by flavours from the USA, Vietnam and Malaysia’. That leads to its Best-Selling Sauce in Just Seafood – the Louisiana Cajun style which is actually made popular by the Vietnamese in Louisiana. And guess that, Terence and his chef are also Vietnamese – together they perfected Just Seafood’s version of Louisiana Sauce – with the right amount of thickness to goes with the fresh seafood. Thus, you know which one you gotta order when you’re here huh?

I love their Louisiana Cajun sauce – it’s an appetizing sauce I would say – with lots of flavours from the spices used – and the spicy + a hint of sourish taste. Yummy! And don’t left those potatoes and carrots behind because they are a hidden gem in this dish. The natural sweetness of your carrots and starchy potatoes are being enhanced by the special Cajun sauce.

Louisiana Cajun Sauce:
1-2pax: RM109+
3-4pax: RM199+
5-7pax: RM399+

Up next on the table is the Signature Buttermilk sauce, a sauce that goes well with almost everything whether it’s seafood, poultry, vegetables or even bread sticks. You will see this Buttermilk xx or other Buttermilk xx in stir-fry restaurants which makes it a local favorites sauce. Just Seafood does not skimp on their ingredients where a whole bottle of buttermilk is used in preparing a certain amount of sauces. Thus, can you image the creaminess of the sauce that I would like to mix it with my pasta to turn it into an ala-minute Carbonara? And your toasted bread is a very useful dish on our table now – dipped that bread in to the creamy buttermilk sauce and I’ll bet that you’ll order more toasted bread after that! Another thing I love about this sauce is the presence of curry leaves- the utmost important thing in a buttermilk sauce (it’s not called a good buttermilk sauce without curry leaves). It gives that kick to your tongue.

Buttermilk Sauce:
1-2pax: RM99+
3-4pax: RM189+
5-7pax: RM369+

Last but not least is the Creamy Peanut Sauce, which is inspired from the local favourites dish – Satay. Yup! It’s #thepeanutsauce but unlike the satay’s peanut sauce, the Creamy Peanut sauce at Just Seafood is being crafted to go well with the seafood. It has a creamy and savoury base with just the right amount of spiciness level – and of course the nuts in the sauce. It’s a sauce that made specially for us! Do try them out if you’re here!

1-2pax: RM109+
3-4pax: RM199+
5-7pax: RM399+

Well, besides all these creamy and yummylicious seafood sets in different types of sauces; you must not missed their Giant Fresh Oyster which is the size of your palm. The dedicated chefs opened the giant oysters right before you eat it to maintain its freshness. Just squeeze some lemon and off it goes into your mouth. I’m reminiscing the moment I take a bite of this amazing dish. Loving it! This USA Fresh Giant Oyster is priced at only RM18/pc. And if you buy 4pcs (at RM72), you get another piece of Giant Oyster for FREE! Where else can you find a giant fresh oyster at this price in Klang Valley?

If you’re looking for some fried fritters, you can try the Deep Fried Seafood Basket (RM47) which comes with Oysters, Prawns and Calamari Fritters. Pop one in your mouth and you’ll automatically go for the second piece. A crunchy coating on the outside preserves the freshness of the seafood in it. Voila.

If you’re a carbs person that rice or noodles is a must have; Just Seafood do serve Crab Meat Fried Rice (RM39) as well as Meat Crab Glass Noodle (RM49)

I’m sure you’re looking for a drink or two by now. Think no further and order the house signature Lemongrass Pandan (RM9). Freshly made daily and it’s good to have after a heavy seafood meal. The Lime Ice Tea (RM9) is great too. The sourish taste from the lime kinda flush the thirsty feeling away at the end of the meal. If you’re looking for some booze, Just Seafood also serves beers and selected imported wines to go with your seafood.

Have your #JustSeafood moment at Sunway Giza Mall today. Do follow their Facebook at Just Seafood for updates on their latest unique seafood offerings.

Sugar Free Mooncakes by BMS Organics

Mid Autumn Festival is happening less than a month away from now. During this transition period to the 8th month in the Chinese Lunar Calender, you will be greeted by various types of this festival’s delicacies in shopping malls, restaurants, bakeries and even cafes. This wonderful delicacy which everyone awaits is the respectful and meaningful Mooncake. Mooncake is part of the soul of this Mid Autumn Festival here – of course, not to forget about the meaning of family gathering and togetherness during this festival.

Mooncake is eaten during the festival since the ancient times. To cut short on its history, you can read here. The shape, size and flavours of Mooncake may have changed over the years but the meaning of Mid Autumn Festival and Mooncake continues till today.

If you have read about my previous post on Mooncakes, I do love Mooncakes that I will travel miles to have it on hand. This year, I explored a different kind of Mooncake which is available in the market – and I’m glad I did.

This special Mooncake is a type of Sugar Free Mooncake which is really healthy and suitable for people who could not take food which are high in sugar levels. Well, I’m sure you might have a bit of negative views when you read about ‘sugar free Mooncake’ where you might thought that it could be quite tasteless (or is it even sweet?), who will eat them?, are you kidding me – desserts without sugar? and etc…

But, hold your thoughts first.. This Sugar Free Mooncakes which I’m gonna share below is really delicious on the inside, pretty on the outside and brings no bad cholesterol to your body! Your body will thank you for this Sugar Free Mooncake at the end of the day.

This Sugar Free Mooncake is a special festive creation by BMS Organics; the Largest Organic Retail Chain in The Malaysia Book of Records. It is low in calories; sugar free and made of 100% organic ingredients (according to the team, even the plain flour used is from unbleached, free from additives and is produced through a traditional style stone milling process – to reduce the loss of cereals enzymes and nutrients).

Instead of the usual white sugar, the dedicated team at BMS Organics used natural isomalt as a substitute. This is why the Mooncake by BMS Organics have a mild sweet taste even though it’s sugar free. As isomalt is one of the sugar replacer which people with diabetes consume, this Sugar Free Mooncake is suitable for people with diabetes as well as high blood pressure. And if you’re only looking to reduce sugar intake in your daily meals, this Sugar Free Mooncake from BMS Organics is what you need during this Mid Autumn Festival.
BMS Organics offers 6 types of Sugar Free Mooncakes for your indulgence this year. These 6 types of Sugar Free Mooncakes are divided into the classic and modern flavors. Classic Mooncake lovers will be delighted with the Sugar Free Pure lotus, Pure Lotus with Yolk and Mixed Nuts Delight – a healthy twist from the traditional Mooncakes!

Thanks to the team at BMS Organics, my partner and I attended their Sugar Free Mooncake Launch at Cheras Leisure Mall recently. There was a launch gimic by lighting up its giant Mooncake box (pic below).

The Sugar Free Mooncake by BMS Organics being launched.

During the launch event, there's also a Mooncake presentation by beautiful models! Check out the presentation moment below.

One of the highlighted Sugar Free Mooncake from BMS Organics this 2016 is the Pink Lady 10 Grain Beetroot. It comes with a light pinkish skin on the outside – BMS Organics uses beetroot juice to make the mooncake skin wears the pretty pink shade. On the inside, you can find a nutritious oat milk and lotus seed paste fillings – where 10 types of grain are blended together. These nutritious elements are great for replenishing blood in your body – especially for women. I love this Mooncake the most among all the Sugar Free Mooncakes available here because the taste is superb with a mild sweet taste.

The next Sugar Free Mooncake available at BMS Organics is the Bamboo Charcoal Black Sesame. Don’t judge its taste by its blacken skin on the outside. The black coloured skin of this Sugar Free Mooncake is made from Bamboo Charcoal! Food made with bamboo charcoal is not new - you can find bamboo charcoal cakes and breads in the market too. Bamboo charcoal helps to eliminate toxins from our body and keeps our body healthy. On the inside, this black gold is filled with an aromatic black sesame filing which is packed with vitamins, calcium and minerals needed by our body. Therefore, this Bamboo Charcoal Black Sesame Mooncake also serves to detoxify and then supply nutrition to our body. Your Mooncake from BMS Organics is that healthy!

You must also not miss the Green Balance Macha Red Bean Mooncake. Yes, this is a Japanese inspired Matcha mooncake (it’s Sugar Free!) and from the name of the Mooncake, you can already figured out that it has a green coloured skin on the outside. The green coloured skin is resulted from the natural green tea powder being mixed in its ingredients. On the inside, it has a green coloured filing which is made of a combination of green tea and wheat grass. Then, it has another layer of red coloured red bean filing in the middle of the Mooncake. The combination of red bean, green tea and wheat grass makes up an interesting umami taste yet healthy!

Besides the three modern styled Sugar Fee Mooncakes above, BMS Organics also crafted three types of traditional Sugar Free Mooncakes to match your needs. We might go all out for modern styled Mooncakes, but at the end of the day; we will still go for some traditional kind of Mooncake to maximize our Mid Autumn atmosphere.

The Sugar Free Pure Lotus Mooncake is a classic Mooncake under its category. Made from high quality lotus seeds to form its lotus paste filings, your nostalgic Mooncake now comes in a Sugar Free version. Reminiscing your good old memories through the traditional Mooncake in a healthier way!
