We had found a nice breakfast/brunch place to be included into our breakfast venue list which is located not far from home. Probably you've heard about this cafe already - Metal Box Cafe which is located in Empire Damansara (the vintage building which houses many other cafes as well as Boat Noodle).

It was on the morning of the Party of the Century event day and pig is off that day :) A chance to drove out and had brunch together! Love the fact that this place has an indoor as well as outdoor seating. Since the weather was good, outdoor seating was a good choice to enjoy the morning breeze and sunlight (think Vitamin D :P ). I think I would prefer to sit outdoor as there's a lack of air ventilation on the inside - just a personal preference okay.

Your eyes will be enjoying a moment of peace with the greens surrounding the area. And the mini water fountain with koi fish pond lights up the peaceful morning mood too. We were saying that how awesome it would be if we stay in one of the apartments right opposite Empire Damansara where we can just walk across the road and have breakfast here or other cafes there :P

Unlike other breakfast/brunch places that only served hot food after 11am or 12pm, all the dishes listed on the menu is available throughout the entire day. Thus, if breakfast menu is your cup of tea that morning, have a hearty pasta or a steak or taco instead. Here's the full menu for your reference so that you know what type of food they have there.

 As usual, power juices is needed to start the day. Complimentary plain water is served too :)

After researching on what people order when they dine here though Foursquare, we-too ordered their specialty dishes. Oh, we actually ordered two type of food (one for each) at first but I think we were too hungry, thus we add on to order another one. Not saying that their portion is small; it's normal size but we were just hungry ~


I had the Guinness Pancake, RM15.90! Comes with 5 small round shaped pancakes and finished off with strawberry sauce together with some berries. The small glass contains gula malacca + a hint of Guinness syrup. I think I love the presentation! Yay to berries and red syrup! Pancakes is fluffy but the after dipping the strawberry sauce + gula malacca syrup, it's a bit too sweet.

Pig needs savory food for his breakfast :) The savoury breakfast of the day; The Red Benedict RM18.90. The eggs benedict is laying on a croissant together with turkey ham, saute mushroom and edamame. But can't really taste the red wine glaze though. There's a great amount of hollandaise sauce where I dipped my pancake in it.

Then, the Specialty French Toast, RM15.90 came. 3 pieces of toasted bread topped with pistachio nuts, berries, strawberry sauce and the gula malacca syrup. Taste wise, it's okay since this time we didn't pour all the syrup on the toast.

Great breakfast and it's only 2 minutes drive to this place. Shall try the hot food next time!

BreadFruits Cafe, Desa Sri Hartamas

Breadfruits Cafe which is located in Desa Sri Hartamas offers delicious and healthy breakfast choice. Had been there many times and here's what we had the last round. I love their juices especially the natural healing juices.

This time,we had something different. My pig had SatisFry Up while I had Smoke Salmon Breakfast Platter. Both of them comes with coffee or tea and a small glass juice of the day.

My pig's Satisfry Up, RM22.80. As usual, he will normally goes for the big breakfast platter. It comes with sunny side up eggs, pork sausage (oh yes, it's PORK), sauteed mushroom and cherry tomatoes, some salad, baked potato and a toast. I love the pork sausage! Salad and mushrooms looks a bit sad in terms of the portion. Their bread is fresh and it's a multi grain bread.

Instead of my usual baked eggs, eggs benedict, etc, went for something different :)  I had the Smoke Salmon Breakfast Platter, RM24.80. It's because I spotted avocado when I was reading the menu. It comes with toast, scramble egg, smoked salmon, avocado and cherry tomato salad and arugula. Salmon was ok and the bread goes well with the avocado and wobbly eggs.

Food was good. Do come early if you don't want to wait as tables are limited. However, service is quite slow when there's many customers around. (oh well, there was one visit where I wanted to purchase their cake which was displayed on the counter. There were many customers around and it looks like they don't have enough staff. But what he told pissed me off! He mention that the chef is not here to cut the cake thus I can't purchase it. In other shops, most of the staff are "trained" and knows how to cut a cake.). Hopefully they can improve on their service when the shop is crowded. Btw, their desserts actually looks good.

There's been lots of new places mushrooming around Klang Valley which served good brunch choices. Not far away from the busy street, BreadFruits Cafe is getting really popular lately. Be prepared to queue if you are not the first few customers when their shop is opened in the morning.

BreadFruits Cafe also serves as an organic fruits shop besides being a juice place/restaurant. They sells a wide range of organic fruits and do visit them from time to time to see what's in season. Guaranteed organic range. Besides that, they are specialized in various types of power juices. Each with a different functions and health benefits. For me, I would rather go for juices when dining in this cafe because "their juices taste better than the caffeinated beverages" :p

Their shop opens at 8.30am and their kitchen which served hot food close at 5pm. Do note that their shop is not close at 5pm. If you are going there 5pm,you can shop for some organic fruits, try their homemade cakes and have a cup of power fruit juice or coffee.In the morning, they have a variety of breakfast menu and come noon; they served the full menu choice.

We ordered the "SatisFry Up"; RM22.80 which comes with a choice of coffee/tea and a glass of complimentary juice of the day. This SatisFry Up consist of all the carbs, protein and fiber you need to start your day. From pork sausage/bacon, scrambled egg, toasted bread, salad, roasted cherry tomato, saute mushroom and mashed potato.  Boyfie's must have for breakfast; the complete egg, sausage, bread, and side dishes for Western breakfast.:)

This is their infamous version of baked eggs; "The Wholesome Spanish Baked Egg"; RM16.80. Best part, their baked beans are homemade and you can taste the sourish tomato sauce while biting the fresh baked beans. Inside this hot plate covered with freshly baked beans, there's bacon and egg and served with salad and toasted ciabatta. Oh, I love their bread too. Wish I could buy their bread and munch them on the go. Fresh and soft bread :)

Guess what. I was at their door at 8.30am sharp during the weekend and there's whole bunch of hungry customers already waiting at the door. Luckily we were able to get a sit once their shop opened. Be early or be prepared to wait!

Great brunch choice and will be back for more.
