Vegetarian Yee Sang from Hui Lau Shan Malaysia Chinese New Year Menu 2016

Hui Lau Shan Malaysia; the infamous dessert shop which hailed from Hong Kong had recently launched a new Chinese New Year Menu 2016 to usher the lunar Monkey Year. This dessert shop is famed for its wide variety of desserts especially the mango desserts.

This Chinese New Year 2016, Hui Lau Shan Malaysia is proud to present its very own version of Yee Sang which are Prosperity Lou Sang and Cheerful Lou Sang. And the best part; the Cheerful Lou Sang is a vegetarian version of yee sang that is suitable for vegetarian as well as health-conscious people. Hui Lau Shan Malaysia is that thoughtful to cater to your needs :)

Thanks to Hui Lau Shan Malaysia, I was there to witness their new Chinese New Year Menu launch at their brand new outlet in Setapak Central Mall. The famous artiste Juztin Lan (劉界輝) is the spokesperson or brand ambassador of the brand new prosperous menu.

The direction of Hui Lau Shan Malaysia for the year 2016 is healthy and leisure where they want to ensure that the food sold by its brand is healthy to its customers as well as providing a comfortable place for all walks of people to relax and catch up with each other. Thus, they had renovation plans in the pipe line to improve the interior design of all their outlets. The one currently located in Setapak Central Mall is their latest renovated outlets.

As mentioned by Hui Lau Shan Southeast Asia General Manager Mr. Pan Vui Shang,
"We chose soothing color combination and added in sofas and bar seats to create a relaxing environment for our diners. We have a series of renovation plan down the pipeline. Currently we have started works on our 1 Utama's outlet and it will be ready before Chinese New Year. Hopefully the change will bring in some freshness for our customers,".

I love their healthy yet stylish outlets direction because bring a dessert lover like me; dessert is a must to end a great meal or perhaps end the day and looking for a healthy dessert is a tremendous task as it's not an easy one. With the Hui Lau Shan's healthy yet delicious desserts, you can enjoy your sweet-endings without regretting it later on.

From its health, freshness, uniqueness and creativity principles which they strictly upholds to, they launched a new vegetarian yee sang which is called as 'Cheerful Lou Sang'. Priced at RM21.80nett for a regular size (serves 1-2 pax) and RM27.80nett for a large size (serves 3-4 pax), it is made up of purely vegetables and fruits which makes it suitable for vegetarians. This vegetarian yee sang consist of Hui Lau Shan's signature mangoes, red and green apples, pears, strawberries, watermelons, cantaloupes, honeydews, guavas, shredded carrots and turnips, pomelos, seeds such as sunflower seeds and others. It is then topped with crispy crackers and their special passion fruit sauce to tantalize your taste buds.

Looking at its ingredients, it's like a fruity, fresh and modern version of traditional yee sang which health conscious people will fall in love with. And they also sell a regular portion which serves 1 to 2 pax is suitable for a Valentine's Day lou sang session with your loved ones. Do impressed your partners with a low calorie yet delicious yee sang or you can call it a salad. :)

For those who prefer a more traditional type of yee sang, go for their Prosperity Yee Sang which comes with a classic plum sauce. It is priced at RM20.80nett for a regular size (serves 1-2 pax) and at RM26.80nett for a large size (serves 3-4 pax).

Artiste Juztin Lau, Mr.Pan Vui Shang and MyFM DJ Joe Chang initiated the lou sang session by tossing the fruity Cheerful Lou Sang.

Hui Lau Shan Malaysia also offers some iconic Chinese delicacies which are the Prosperity Hong Kong Signature New Year Cake and the Prosperity Hong Kong Signature Radish Cake. This year, they had improved the packaging for these two delicacies that makes it look presentable as a New Year gift to your relatives or friends. Best part, they contains no preservatives which is in line with their company's direction of providing healthy food to its customers. Thus, its shelf life is only about 10days and must be kept in the fridge.

The Prosperity Hong Kong Signature New Year Cake is originated from a homemade Nian Gao recipe that uses specially chosen cane sugar and natural brown sugar. It is priced at RM22.80nett (1KG) and it tasted good with its not too sweet yet a bit of chewy texture.

The Prosperity Hong Kong Signature Radish Cake from Hui Lau Shan Malaysia uses only top grade dried shrimps and mushrooms which gives it a fragrant and rich umami taste. I do love radish cake especially my maid used to make in the past when she's still around. It was soft due to the high ratio of white radish to flour in it. The one here in Hui Lau Shan tasted almost similar to it. Thus, they are really generous with its ingredients that I can still see the dried shrimps and mushrooms in it. This scrumptious Chinese version of a cake is priced at RM28.80nett (800grams).

Here's another good news to share; from now till 31 January 2016, spend a minimum of RM18 at any Hui Lau Shan dessert shop in Malaysia and you will received some specially designed Hui Lau Shan red packets - these red packets comes with a RM8 lucky voucher too. More savings for all of us!

And not to forget that guest artiste Juztin Lan was there as the spokesperson during the launch event. And to Juztin's fans, here's a great tips for you - he has a sweet tooth! Here is his view about his love for Hui Lau Shan dessert. )

"I tried Hui Lau Shan's best-seller when I was in Hong Kong and was totally sold. I was elated when I heard they were coming to Malaysia, now I can enjoy their delicious desserts without traveling far. Other than that, they also introduced many new desserts to fulfil the needs of the local crows such as Tong Sui and Durian Pancake," Juztin Lan said.

And do visit Hui Lau Shan outlets more frequently, you might bump into your idol here. hehe :P

And of course, must take a picture when you see an artiste in town!

And thanks Hui Lau Shan Southeast Asia General Manager, Mr. Pan Vui Shang for bringing Hui Lau Shan to Malaysia and also for providing a healthier dessert option for all the sweet tooth customers in Malaysia :)

Special Dessert at Nosh, Bangsar

Last month, we had tried one of the limited time dessert at Nosh, Bangsar in conjunction with Valentine's Day. After trying one of their special dessert last time, we dream of munching them in our mouth again. And we made it a point to try some other desserts on their limited time Valentine's Day Special Dessert list before it's gone.

Yesterday, we purposely had a light dinner so that we will have enough stomach space to fill these delicious looking dessert. The last time (read here if you have not), we had 'L.O.V.E' and we try not to order it as again as much as we wanted to.

Before we begin our sea of love, we had some fresh juices to cool ourselves down. Again, we had this Fresh Strawberry Juice, RM9.90 and it's absolutely perfect as a starter. The sweet and sour liquid of berries fly us to the berryland in seconds.

Strawberry Juice, RM9.90

Since we were going to have some sugar-rush with the desserts, this Detox Juice, RM12 balances our calories intake for the night. There's some celery, cucumber and other vegetables in it. Going Green!

Detox Juice, RM12

We ordered 3 types of dessert from the special order list. In fact, there's 4 types that we have not try but we have limited stomach space :( You can't go wrong with chocolate - good quality chocolate. Amour, RM21 features a really rich chocolate tart topped with some ganache and lying on a superb crispy cookie base. It's a rich dark chocolate thing and one scope of this really gives you the kick. There's some really sour red berries by the side to gives extra kick when you have them together. The strawberry and blueberries can sweeten back your world at the end of it.

Then, we fly to Japan to indulge this Ai, RM16 which is a green tea cake with layers of azuki mousse between it. The cake is perfect, not too sweet - just right and the texture is soft and bouncy. There's a huge scope of orange mousse on top of the cake with some crispy wafers as presentation. I love pairing the orange mousse with the cake as the citrus taste does compliments the tea taste of the cake. And you will see these little heart shapes formed by Strawberry and Vanilla sauce on the plate as decorations. Do dash your cake into these little sauce because they are a match in heaven
.

Now, you're back in Malaysia with this Cinta, RM18 which is a fragrant durian cheesecake paired with black pepper crumble. The cake is definitely rich with durian pulp as if I'm licking a real durian fruit on my hand. There's more durian pulp than the cheese taste in the cake that makes it so intense. I'm really impressed with the mild fiery black pepper crumble as this little fire bakes the cake to another level. It was really good!

After finishing these 3 amazing desserts, we were really full and satisfied. We also want to try the Ti Amo too which is a creamy baked custard pudding but we really can't eat anymore. Hope that Nosh will features these dessert again in future.

This Special Valentine's Day Dessert is available till 15 March 2015 (Sunday). Thus, you still have tomorrow and Sunday - 2 days more to indulge these amazing desserts. Wait no more!

Mad About Coco, Solaris Dutamas (next to Publika)

We had dinner with pig's friend at Tai Thong Kepong the other day and it was a horrible experience dinner. Shall talk about this next time. Since it was already late and most dessert cafes would have close by that time; (it was 10 plus at night) we thought of trying our luck at this little chocolate place in Publika since it's only about 10 minutes drive from Kepong.

We got loss a bit at first as we thought that the cafe is inside Publika :( Okay, here's the direction. Walk to Journal by Plan B in Publika, turn left (and Plan B's outdoor seating is on your left) and cross the small lane there. You'll see a flight of stairs at the corridor - walk up and Mad About Coco is right up there. In fact, if you're at Plan B's outdoor seating, look up before you cross the small lane. You'll spot the bright cafe upstairs.

It was our first time here and it was really crowded at night. We only knew that chocolate is their specialty here - from their shop facade: Coco = Chocolate :P Since we need to place our order rather quickly (we arrived at 10 plus and they closed at 11 I think), we had a look at their 'Best Sellers' page on the menu and it gives a good indication to what you'll need to have when you dine there.

Best Sellers at Mad About Coco.

Once you've decided what you'll have, do remember your order and queue at the counter to order and pay for your food.

Their counter is a simple one and there's a menu board hanging right up there. If you had forgotten the name of the dishes you would like to order, do refer to the menu board up there.

And they do sell cute little cookies, teas and premium selection of juices.I saw some fruit jams for sale at the counter too. They are not available on the menu, you gotta check them out at the counter.

Here's what we had that day:

Mad About Coco, RM20 is on their best sellers list featuring a moist chocolate cake served with melted chocolate and a strawberry. I would say that the chocolate cake is a pretty decent chocolate cake but not moist enough for me. I think if we have some strawberry sauce there, it would be perfect as the melted chocolate makes the cake too sweet to be eaten together.

Mad About Coco, RM20

The logo looks quite cute on the cake though. It's a big piece of chocolate on the cake.

I think I love this Innocent Devil Tiramisu Ball, RM20 more than anything else that we ordered and the presentation is lovely. There's a small Tiramisu cake nested inside the chocolate ball and served with melted chocolate and 2pcs of small heart shaped chocolate cake.

Innocent Devil Tiramisu Ball, RM20

Open the chocolate ball and you'll see this delicious looking Tiramisu cake and this piece of cake does taste good. Moist and juicy with a hint of alcohol :)

We also had this Coco Gone Banana Pizza, RM25 which I think it's a bit expensive. It's some look-a-like paratha bread topped with bananas and chocolates. Probably you can try to prepare this at home with your frozen paratha bread :P

One of pig's friend also had this Dark Hot Chocolate drink and you can choose to have this with marshmallow too (extra charge for it). It comes with some chocolate chips where you can drink a sip and bit some chocolate chips then. Or melt those chocolate chips into the drink for a more intense taste.

Hot Chocolate, RM12

If you are looking for something to eat before your chocolate therapy, they do sell some hot food too. Here's some snap shot of their menu for your reference.

They have a few choices of sandwiches, some light snacks, pastas and some savory dishes like burgers. Thus, if your partner is not into something chocolaty, you can have your mains here together and end it with a chocolate dessert just for yourself!

They have a long list of desserts on the menu. And majority of them are the chocolate based!

And they do have another outlet at Fahrenheit 88 too. Will come back for more especially their lava cake and chocolate crepes.

Caffe Bene, Sunway Pyramid

Here's a short post on our recent visit to Caffe Bene, Sunway Pyramid.

Caffe Bene had just recently opened its first outlet in Sunway Pyramid. Perfect as a hang out area for students who named Sunway Pyramid as their second home. Too bad that I had graduated from Taylor's Lakeside or else; I will haunt visit this place everyday.

Got to know this place from my friend, Sidney. Read more about his reviews here.

Was going there to try their famous waffles but it was sold out when we were there :(

Instead, we tried their Affogato and Gelato.

This is what you get after paying + your receipt + your change (if any)
Using the same concept as Snowflakes; customers are given this beeping thing where when your food are ready, this round alike thing will vibrate and you can collect the food at the counter.

Affogato with Vanilla Ice-Cream, RM8

Love their creamy ice-cream :)

This is the concentrated coffee to bath melt the creamy ice-cream.

This happens when the coffee marries the ice-cream :)
Love their Affogato to the max !

Gelato (Espresso), RM6 for single scope
I'm gonna make more trips to get this ice-cream! Lovin it.
