Special Dessert at Nosh, Bangsar

Last month, we had tried one of the limited time dessert at Nosh, Bangsar in conjunction with Valentine's Day. After trying one of their special dessert last time, we dream of munching them in our mouth again. And we made it a point to try some other desserts on their limited time Valentine's Day Special Dessert list before it's gone.

Yesterday, we purposely had a light dinner so that we will have enough stomach space to fill these delicious looking dessert. The last time (read here if you have not), we had 'L.O.V.E' and we try not to order it as again as much as we wanted to.

Before we begin our sea of love, we had some fresh juices to cool ourselves down. Again, we had this Fresh Strawberry Juice, RM9.90 and it's absolutely perfect as a starter. The sweet and sour liquid of berries fly us to the berryland in seconds.

Strawberry Juice, RM9.90

Since we were going to have some sugar-rush with the desserts, this Detox Juice, RM12 balances our calories intake for the night. There's some celery, cucumber and other vegetables in it. Going Green!

Detox Juice, RM12

We ordered 3 types of dessert from the special order list. In fact, there's 4 types that we have not try but we have limited stomach space :( You can't go wrong with chocolate - good quality chocolate. Amour, RM21 features a really rich chocolate tart topped with some ganache and lying on a superb crispy cookie base. It's a rich dark chocolate thing and one scope of this really gives you the kick. There's some really sour red berries by the side to gives extra kick when you have them together. The strawberry and blueberries can sweeten back your world at the end of it.

Then, we fly to Japan to indulge this Ai, RM16 which is a green tea cake with layers of azuki mousse between it. The cake is perfect, not too sweet - just right and the texture is soft and bouncy. There's a huge scope of orange mousse on top of the cake with some crispy wafers as presentation. I love pairing the orange mousse with the cake as the citrus taste does compliments the tea taste of the cake. And you will see these little heart shapes formed by Strawberry and Vanilla sauce on the plate as decorations. Do dash your cake into these little sauce because they are a match in heaven
.

Now, you're back in Malaysia with this Cinta, RM18 which is a fragrant durian cheesecake paired with black pepper crumble. The cake is definitely rich with durian pulp as if I'm licking a real durian fruit on my hand. There's more durian pulp than the cheese taste in the cake that makes it so intense. I'm really impressed with the mild fiery black pepper crumble as this little fire bakes the cake to another level. It was really good!

After finishing these 3 amazing desserts, we were really full and satisfied. We also want to try the Ti Amo too which is a creamy baked custard pudding but we really can't eat anymore. Hope that Nosh will features these dessert again in future.

This Special Valentine's Day Dessert is available till 15 March 2015 (Sunday). Thus, you still have tomorrow and Sunday - 2 days more to indulge these amazing desserts. Wait no more!

Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year Special Set, Nosh Bangsar.

It's Monday again! How's your Chinese New Year celebration last week? I'm sure your whole week was full of gathering, festive food and huge celebrations. I think good time passes really fast and that CNY is already over.

We had our early Valentine's Day celebration at Nosh, Bangsar recently and the good news is that their special Valentine's and Chinese New Year set is available until 15 March 2015. Therefore, even if Chinese New Year is already over for real; you still can be in the festive mood at Nosh, Bangsar.

You can either choose a Set A at RM48/pax or a Set B at RM78/pax. Both sets are two courses meal with an appetizer and a main. Drinks are not included in the set meal. Our main mission the other day was to have their special dessert as part of our Valentine's Day celebration. Thus, we saved this festive set for our next visit.

Festive set at Nosh, Bangsar.

In conjunction with Valentine's Day, Nosh introduces 5 limited time desserts namely "Ai", "LOVE", "Amour", "Ti Amo" and "Cinta". Each dessert's plating is planned with great details. I actually saw their dessert planning on their FB account and tempted me to try them :)

We actually planned to have our dessert at Nosh after our Valentine's celebration dinner. However, since the restaurant which we wanted to go was fully booked (on Valentine's eve huh!); we thought why not have dinner at Nosh instead since it's been ages since we dine here. And the lighting here is good for selfies :)

Each table was lighted up with a little candle in a glass filled with red dyed rice.

If you're here, do try their fresh Strawberry Juice. Yes, it's freshly juiced; not the strawberry flavored syrup. Love it. Gonna buy boxes of strawberries when they are on sale and juiced them at home.

Pig would usually busy entertaining his smart phone when we wait for our food to be served. Since there was a glass of red dyed rice on our table, here's what he did while waiting for his food to be served. Thanks to his itchy fingers, he created this lovely masterpiece :)

Finally, the food arrived. Pig had the Grilled Lamb Rack served with cheesy portobello mushroom and salad. The lamb was good and I love that giant cheesy mushroom. It was crispy outside and the inner part was still juicy!

I'm a pesto lover so I had their pesto penne with grilled chicken. As you can see from the picture below, it comes with sufficient amount of pine nuts that you can taste their presence in every bites.

After the mains, we were very happy that it was dessert time. We ordered the "LOVE" special dessert to share. It comes with about 7 scopes of ice-creams and topped with nuts, chocolate sauce, chocolate wafer and some raspberry + strawberry. The most important is that there's a "LOVE U" note on the plate which makes it just like a Valentine's Day dessert! Unfortunately, our special letters was covered with some of the nuts when it was served :( They should have put the letters on the other corner or dessert to be put placed on the center of the plate instead. But the ice-cream was delicious. When you scope them with your dessert spoon; there's frozen raspberries inside the ice-creams. It's like you are digging for treasure inside the ice-creams.

A selfie is a must when you have a plate of art.

That was our Valentine's Day dinner at Nosh, Bangsar. We plan to taste all the 5 types of dessert but since we had a cake at home; we'll save the other 4 types for our next visit.

You have till 15 March 2015 to try their Special festive set or Valentine's Day Special desserts.Their dessert is absolutely delicious. I've noticed that you can order their normal dessert and add in the 'LOVE U' note too. If you would like to follow up on their latest menu or special dessert, do have a look on their FB page once in a while.

Chef Low Seafood Restaurant, Lucky Garden,Bangsar

It's the season of 'Lou Sang' as Chinese New Year is less than 2 weeks away. As usual, pig and I will dine in at a restaurant just to try their yee sang; it's our annual practise. We don't mind ordering a yee sang and toss it between us (two of us only) as it's fun to just play with it between ourselves. Let's toss for more happiness day ahead of us and it's a long journey that we had went through till today :)

This year, we found our new favorite place for lou sang in Bangsar. And their lou sang is just awesome.
Chef Low Seafood Restaurant in Lucky Garden, Bangsar serves delicious organic salad yee sang as well as other stir-fry dishes - seafood in particular. Their organic salad yee sang is also featured in TimeOut KL's 'Unusual Yee Sang Dishes' column.

Turning into Lucky Garden, Bangsar; spot the huge red Chef Low's billboard sign which is lighted up with LED lights. This billboard/logo sign is hang right on top of a car workshop. The restaurant is right next to the car workshop. There's indoor seating at the ground floor as well as first floor- all air conditioned. But there's also a few tables outside the restaurant along the corridor walkway.

You'll be greeted by a few tanks of fishes swimming or sometimes starring at you as you walked pass :) We were lucky to have a table for two upstairs. Oh, and we booked our table while we were on our way to the restaurant and also made an order of our dishes too. There were many group dinners around when we were there; thus it's advisable to make a booking before you go there.

Flip through their menu and you can see a long list - more than 5 pages on the menu with interesting dishes name and the price of course. There's a variety of tai chow dishes ranging from the affordable price dishes to expensive dishes such as shark fin or sea cucumber dishes on the menu. It's really depends on your budget. There's also a variety of rice and noodles dishes if you are on a budget.

Pig had this fresh passion fruit juice. I think its too sour but pig like it :P

Fresh Passion Fruit Juice

And you'll be given a plate of kacang putih to share. Just like any other restaurant where they serve chargeable peanuts; they serve kacang putih here. This plate of tidbit will cost you RM3.

Tidbits, RM3.

Their signature Organic Salad Yee Sang comes in a few choices of accompanying side which are jelly fish, salmon, abalone slices, shark fin, etc. And you can opt to add on some of the sides too. For us, we took the Yee Sang with sliced abalone and add on pear into it. The yee sang with sliced abalone costs RM42 and the additional pear costs RM10.
Top: Without sauce. Bottom: After we pour all the condiments on to it.

Their yee sang is one of the best ones that we had ever had. Their yee sang is taste fresh and juicy (with the addition of pear) with an unforgettable taste in every bite. We don't feel bloated or jelat after having a few rounds but we wanted more! There's thinly slices kaffir leaves, small sacs of pomelo fruit, spring onion, parsely, lettuce together with the usual ginger, onions and other condiments. Their plum sauce is different where it makes the yee sang taste slightly savory rather than sweet. It is a good appetizer because it opens your appetite for your next dishes and Chef Low's one hit it. Unlike the other yee sang that we had; where the entire dish tasted a bit on the sweet and sour side that we feel full after a few bites. We are gonna be back for yee sang here :)

Let's toss!

Before we reach the restaurant, pig had ordered this Hong Kong Style Steamed Glutinous Rice with Seasonal Waxed Duck and Preserved Sausages. This is because it takes about 20 minutes to steam the rice and we do not want to wait or 20 minutes; thus ordered this while we made our booking. There's an option to choose either the white rice or glutinous rice; we chose the rice because glutinous rice is too filling for us. We had the small portion at RM40. This small portion is actually very BIG. We were shocked by the size of the claypot when it was served. But the smell is great.

Hong Kong Style Steamed Rice with Seasonal Waxed Duck and Preserved Sausages, RM40.

Mix the rice evenly so that the rice at the bottom is evenly covered with the sauce. We added more spring onion into it too. The rice is not too salty but if you prefer a more salty taste; add some soy sauce into it while you mix the rice. There's more ingredients in the claypot than the rice. You'll find preserved duck meat, preserved pork sausages and liver sausages as well as some roasted pork meat. I truly love the preserved sausages because it's not the same as those you can buy outside. There's a very fragrant wine smell and every bite of the sausage is very meaty - not too hard and not too soft; just right.

Done with the mixing.

I treat the yee sang as the greens of the meal and eat it together with my rice from the claypot rice. It taste good actually that we both finished the entire yee sang and the pot of rice. And the yee sang size is a small one (good for up to 5 pax) but imagine we both treated it as salad and finished it. It's just taste good!

They do serve Chinese New year set meal too. Information as below:

Fierce Curry House, Bangsar

TGIF! And I  toured my way into the world of Indian cuisine with my colleagues. Our destination? It's Fierce Curry House which is located at Jalan Kemuja, Bangsar. Fierce Curry House won the Best Indian Restaurant in TimeOut KL Food Awards 2013. This year, they were voted as one of the finalist for the Best Indian Restaurant category too (Oh, and the voting ends 31 Oct 2014).

Fierce Curry House is famous for their Hyderabad Dum Biryani and they have some special Biryani that you need to make reservation at least one day in advance. And that's what we jumped in for.

The restaurant is located on the quieter side of Bangsar and you can park your car at the lane right beside the restaurant (if you're lucky to get a parking slot). It's a corner shop btw. The shop is simple and you can see mirrors with lady wearing different types of traditional Indian clothing hanging on its wall (hm, didn't really touch whether it's hand-painted). The shop was basic with rustic feel.

Inspiration for your Bollywood attire?

The place where I indulged my biryani.

Beautiful painting and ship display on the right.

We were served "Rasam"  with plates-after-plates of Papadam when we arrived. Interesting appetizer that makes us munch non-stop. I think I ate more than half plate of Papadam as the waiter refilled our plate twice. Rasam is a type of South Indian soup where it's sour and I kinda love it;  it 'opens' your appetite and prepare you for the heavy biryani :)

Papadam

Here comes the menu. Love the menu cover that reads "Weight Loss Can Wait" (Oh yes, agree!!). Menu consists a variety of drink, the what they know best - Biryani, Banana Leaf Rice, Kati Rolls (wraps) and desserts.

When you're dining in an Indian Restaurant, a Lassi drink is on the must-drink list. Lassi is a yogurt drink and you can choose its flavor from the types of fruits available on the menu. I had a honeydew lassi while most of my colleagues had mango lassi (recommended by the waiter). The honeydew lassi was ok; can taste the yogurt side of the drink (not too strong) and the honeydew juice. I think I'll prefer one with a stronger yogurt taste :P  The price for a lassi drink is between RM4 to RM7 depending on the type of fruits base or flavor you want.

Honeydew lassi, RM7

Mango lassi, RM7

We had made our reservation for the food two days earlier and the meal was served right after our drinks arrived. For 8 pax, we per-ordered 1x Lobster Biryani (for 4 pax), 1xLamb Shank Biryani (for 2 pax), 1xKing Prawn Biryani (for 1 pax) and 1xSquid Biryani (for 1 pax). The waiter push a food trolley out heading towards our table and our eyes were all on him. It was filled with stainless steel pots containing our biryani which was sealed with cooked flour dough.

Gently, he removed the dough which sealed the pot and our noise were drowned with the strong smell of herbs. Fierce Curry House is famous for their Lobster Biryani.
See how the friendly waiter unveiling the Lobster Biryani:

The lobster was hiding inside the pot of yellow yummy-licious biryani rice. They will need to remove the lobster from the pot to scope and serve us the biryani rice. Then, the lobster will swim back to the kitchen to be chopped so that we can divide and indulge it easily.

Found the lobster!

Here comes the lobster after the mini treasure hunt.

Thanks lobster for adding your aroma into the biryani rice. A huge lobster!

He helped us to divide the rice into plates and our chopped lobster was served. Initially we wanted to order some side vegetables to go with our biryani rice and they gladly provide us with some side vegetables dishes instead. They are part of the vegetarian banana leaf rice side dishes. They served us 5 types of different vegetables side dishes with 1 small plate of curry. The side dishes consist of spinach dish, common fried cabbage (mamak style), potatoes side dish and 2 plates of chopped cucumbers, onions and carrots where one of them were in yogurt-a-like sauce and the other one was marinated like acar. Among all, I love the spinach side dishes the most. Both the acar-like dishes were normal and taste pretty similar.

How's the lobster biryani? Well, the rice was good; the taste was not too strong. The lobster was ok when you eat the body part of it. But it's a bit dry when you munch its flesh from its huge claws. I think I still prefer the Chinese style of cooking lobster. hehe. It's just personal preference.

Lobster Biryani (for 4 pax), RM240.

Lovely side dishes.

We also ordered the Lamb Shank Biryani which was meant for 2pax. But the portion was huge and I think it can feed 4 adults due to the huge amount of rice. The biryani rice for the lamb shank is different from the lobster biryani rice. The biryani rice for the lamb was a bit salty and the rice comes in orange and yellow colours. There's a huge amount of cooked coriander with some other herbs on top of the rice when the pot lid was open. The waiter helped us to remove the lamb meat from the bone too :)  Some parts of the lamb shank was juicy but some part of the meat were hard and dry. Probably because the lamb was cooked together with the biryani rice in the pot? (You know, like our homemade chicken and rice cooked in rice cooker?) Just munch on the juicy one and forget about the dry ones.

Lamb Biryani (for 2 pax), RM80

Lamb-oh-lamb. Some were juicy but some were dried. But it's good that the juicy ones were more than the dry ones.

The orange + yellow biryani rice which was cooked together with the lamb shank.

King Prawns Biryani (for 1pax) was served in an individual size stainless steel pot. Don't judge the book by its cover. The stainless steel pot may look small but when you pour the fillings of the pot onto a plate, it fills the whole plate like a mountain of rice and your stomach will not have space for others.

The King Prawns Biryani was topped with some herbs too. One bite of the rice and you can immediately that the chef cooked it with prawns. There were four pcs of prawns (not so big and not small either) swimming together with the rice. The shell was removed from the prawns and you don't need to dirty your hands dealing with its shell. It will be good if the prawns were a little bit crunchier (personal preference) but it was ok :) It's Indian cuisine after all and the cooking method is different.

King Prawns Biryani (1pax), RM80

Four prawns that helped to make your biryani rice taste good!

The Squid Biryani was served in an individual size stainless steel pot too. Portion was big too and we were already knocked down by the heavy biryani rice. Price is affordable for the Squid Biryani and big chucks of squid can be seen.

Squid Biryani (1pax), RM20

Although we ordered the food based on the recommended portion, there were many leftovers. if you have 5 or 6 pax dining, recommend to order only 1 portion of Lobster Biryani (which was meant to feed 4pax) and order some side dishes and keep some stomach space for dessert.

Their dessert menu consist of roti desserts and ice-creams. Save the roti desserts for next round and had one of my favorite artisan ice-cream; The Last Polka. Yes! You can purchase The Last Polka ice-cream from Fierce Curry House too. Spot their ice-cream counter once you entered the shop.

This time, I had Brown Butter and Almonds. Definitely love it!I love their Deep dark Chocolate too. And their best seller is the Salted Gula Malacca where it tasted like you're eating a bowl of cendul.
Brown Butter and Almonds ice-cream, RM9.80

Yay!

Dinner was awesome and might come back to try their banana leaf rice (love the spinach side dish). You can made a reservation online by emailing them at fiercecurryhouse@gmail.com . If you have any inquiry, do drop a message on their FB page and they do respond quite fast! And they do accept credit cards :) Don't need to bring huge stack of cash if you are ordering their special biryani!
They do have a sister restaurant in Publika; Fiercer and the environment is more classy.
