Nuffnang Premiere Screening: Tomorrowland

School holidays starts tomorrow! If you haven't decide on your holiday plan yet, you gotta plan your time to watch this exciting movie during school holidays.

Tomorrowland is a place which exists in Disneyland Parks around the world. I've been to Tomorrowland in Hong Kong Disneyand and this particular city in the park features futuristic and modern kind of theme with structures, buildings, designs and rides to come under the theme of outer space, planet, spaceship, orbit, rocket and so on. If you had ever thought that this place might be a reality one fine day, your dream come true now.

This place comes alive at Tomorrowland [2015]; a movie released last week in major cinemas worldwide.

Tomorrowland the movie is directed and co-written by Brad Bird who is a famous director who had also directed classic animation such as The Incredibles, Ratatouille as well as Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Brad Bird had won many awards which includes a two-time Oscar® winner.

This movie's hero and heroin are Frank Walker (by George Clooney; an Academy Award® winner) and Casey Newton (by Britt Robertson).

Thanks to Nuffnang Malaysia and Walt Disney Studio Malaysia for the movie pass to Nuffnang Premiere Screening of Tomorrowland. My partner (pig) and I was able to watch this movie 2 days before it released!

Here's a brief storyline to keep you excited:
Casey found a silver pin in her belongings when she was released from the police station. When touched, Casey was magically brought into a whole new world called Tomorrowland and only she can see this magical place. Casey is curious and eager to know more about this place which leads her to Frank; a science genius who was kicked out from Tomorrowland. Together with the help of Athena (a robot recruiter), they enter Tomorrowland to save the world. It because the genius had created something that they should not create at Tomorrowland.
You gotta watch this movie to see how they changed the world and them forever.

I would like to say that this movie needs to be included in your must-watch list. There's a good flow and continuation of exciting parts throughout the movie. You can feel the excitement and have a good 2 hours of adventure in Tomorrowland, a place which only exits in real life Disneyland Parks.

What's this Tomorrowland all about? Tomorrowland is a place created by a group of bright and genius scientists in the past. An enigmatic place somewhere in time and space where they can conduct research to benefit mankind. It is a place which is free from natural disaster, political issues, environment factors and other factors which can interrupt their research. This place is like a modern science city with invention robots, flying machine (cars), high-speed train, high and long elevated highways as well as a perfect surrounding (without pollution and crystal clear water). I'm actually quite amazed by the artist impression of Tomorrowland. Would love to visit too if it really exists :)

Once Casey touched the pin, this is what she saw.

This is the future, Tomorrowland

This is a great trailer on 'What is Tomorrowland'

Another interesting thing you gotta see is where the three just-meet-good-friends launched an ancient rocket to Tomorrowland through the middle of the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower just splits into two to launch the rocket and move back to its original position again and it's witnessed by the whole nation on Earth. Great imagination. Eiffel Tower splits into two huh?

The most important element in this movie is all about hope, future and never give up! I've seen this element throughout the whole movie. First it was Frank when he was young, he was seen sneaking into Tomorrowland and launched his little Jet Pack Ride through the help of Athena to impress David Nix, leader of Tomorrowland to gain a pass there.

Watch young Frank with his Jet Pack Ride into Tomorrowland

And Casey is a bright and cheerful girl who see a hope in everything - a hope for the better future and constantly searching for a solution when things happen. You'll see some scene where she asked her lecturers for solutions on the climate change and other issues explained in her lecture class. She is one-of-her-kind and can you imagine asking your lecturer "What's the solution" or "What can we do to save this from happening" if you land on a Global Warming issue or probably World's Ending issue. Instead of sitting on the issue, she stands up and ready to change it. That's the spirit that we need in today's society! I totally love her never give up spirit. And most important part of the movie, she sees a hope, a FUTURE in Tomorrowland that enable them to save and changes the entire world.

You'll also be inspired by this 'A Tale of Two Wolves' tale told by Casey to her dad. So here, it goes...
There's two wolves which was fighting inside you. One named Evil who is full of anger, greed, jealousy and all the negative feelings. Another one named Love who has all the positive thoughts and feelings in him; loving, caring, empathy, kindness, etc. So which wolf will win? The answer to this is 'The one which you feed"! You gotta think positive and good things will come to you. Always have good and positive thoughts and you will succeed in everything you do. This is such a good tale to be incorporate into this movie. Bravo.

I really enjoyed this movie and it has lots of great elements in it. You might be a little confused at the starting of the movie due to the twisting of the story's timeline. It was talking about the past and then the movie's main storyline continues in the future. But overall it's a great movie.

Nuffnang Premiere Screening: Cinderella [2015]

Let it go ...    Let it go ...
..............     ....................

The cold never bothered me anyway. !

I'm sure you've heard about these few words after the movie; Frozen released worldwide in late 2013. And every time you turned on that radio, you'll still hear this song aired few days once or sometimes - daily. If you are a super Frozen fan that you can't stop yourself from buying those Anna and Elsa merchandise to be added to your collection, you gotta know about this.

Frozen Fever

In conjunction with the launch of the new movie Cinderella [2015], there's a short sequel released entitled Frozen Fever which is about 7 minutes running time. And you can watch this short film to satisfied your Anna and Elsa addiction when you watch the new Cinderella movie in the cinema today! It's a really short story about Else throws a treasure hunt party for Anna and too bad that she had a cold. Love the scene where when Else sneezes, little snowman came out of her nose! Wakaka! Olaf has more friends now.

Thanks to Nuffnang Malaysia and Walt Disney Studio Motion Pictures, I was at the Nuffnang Premiere Screening of Cinderella the other day which was held at TGV 1 Utama.

And I got this lovely glass shoe phone plug from the movie screening! Yay to Nuffnang Malaysia.

At the starting of this Cinderella movie, you'll watch this Frozen Fever short film. Just like an appetizer before a meal. Since school holidays starts today, do bring your kids (or yourself) to the cinema and indulge it.

Cinderella is a classic childhood cartoon which almost everyone knows ...

~ A poor girl lives with her stepmother and 2 stepsisters after her father passed away. Being mistreat by them as a maid and lives in a small little cottage (we call it store room nowaways). One day the king invited all single ladies in the village for a ball at the castle as the prince will choose his bride ~ future queen. Cinderella was not allowed to attend the ball and came fairy-god-mother transformed a pumpkin and mice into a magical carriage which will bring her to the ball. And a new dress for Cinderella too with glass high heels too. But all these magic will ends once the clock strike 12. Cinderella had a wonderful time with the price and left a glass shoe at the castle when she was running away as it's almost 12. The price searched high and low for the owner of the shoe and anyone who can fit into the shoe will be his bride. Soon, Cinderella and the prince live happily ever after.
~ Just a short summary of the classic story of Cinderella to me. ~

This Cinderella has ever since been adapted into many versions of cartoons and movies. This year, 2015; you will be able to enjoy a whole new Cinderella experience on the big screen.

Cinderella [2015]

The story started with a happy childhood moments of Ella spending time in her lovely mansion with her family, servants, workers and farm animals. Ella's father is a merchant who often travel far far away for businesses while her mother is a housewife. Happy times does not last long and everything changed when Ella's mother passed away. Her mother left Ella a piece of advise which will protect her : "Have Courage and Be Kind"

Ella's father married Lady Tremaine and together they live in their mansion with her two stepsisters Drizella and Anastasia.

Cinderella [2015]

Like in the original version of Cinderella, Ella's father passed away leaving Ella with her stepmother and two stepsisters. Since there is no source of income, Lady Tremaine dismissed all the house servants and workers and made Ella their servant instead. Ella had to give up her room and live in the attic but her little friends; mice accompanied her there.

There's a different twist to this version of Cinderella where Ella did meet the prince in the jungle while running away from home. Ella did not know he's the prince and thought he's an apprentice who lives in the palace.

Cinderella [2015]

Soon, the palace announced that all single ladies are invited to a ball at the palace where the prince will choose his bride. Ella was very happy because she will be able to meet the apprentice; Kit.
However, her stepmother forbids her from attending the ball and ripping her hard sew dress just before they were about to leave for the ball.

Then, come fairy-god-mother who transformed pumpkin, mice, lizards and goose into carriage, footman, horses and coachman. Ella's torn dress was transformed into beautiful blue long gown and was given a pair of glass shoe which was said to be 'more comfortable to wear' by the fairy-god-mother. :)

Cinderella [2015]

Cinderella [2015]

Ella's gorgeous dress shocked all the guests at the ball and she became the center of attraction. Like in the original script, they danced all night and the prince brought Ella to his secret garden.

Cinderella [2015]

Just when the clock was about to strike 12 midnight, Ella ran away and leave behind her glass shoe.

Cinderella [2015]

Everything turned back to normal except the glass heel which Ella kept the other half in her attic. From here, I'm sure you will be familiar with the storyline where the prince finally found Ella through the other glass heel. No one in the country was able to fit into the glass heel except Ella. And they live happily ever after!

There's actually another twist here where Ella's stepmother plotted with the Grand Duke so that the prince will never found Ella.

Cinderella [2015]

You will still feel the magical moments of this classic childhood story when you watch this movie. I'm really impressed with the attire worn by the actors and actresses! Ella' magical horse carriage has this mystic and elegant feel to its design. Bravo to the production team who did a little twist to the original plot which makes it feel like a love story.

If you have no plans during this one week long school holidays, do make plan to watch Cinderella and Frozen Fever in the cinema!

Nuffnang Premiere Screening: Chappie

Another new movie featuring story about robots opens in local cinema on 5 March 2015.

It's no other than Chappie!

Source: Nuffnang

Thanks to Nuffnang Malaysia and Sony Pictures Malaysia, Jason and I was able to watch the Premiere Screening of Chappie recently at GSC 1 Utama.

And got this Chappie lanyard from Nuffnang too!

Complete with Chappie's sketches especially this family portrait

This movie is about the life of Chappie, a robot who have feelings and can think by its own.

This movie is set in the year 2016 (it's not real- just a movie okie) at Johannesburg's city where police uses droids or also known as scouts to maintain peace in the city. With the use of these robotic police, the crime rate decreases and law & order is being maintained well in the city. This is because; nothing can stop these robotic police from capturing the criminals - they can't be destroyed.

These robots is manufactured by a company who supplies them to the police force. And the idea of this design of scouts come from Deon Wilson, the maker of scouts and is also a scientists who works for this company. Despite the huge success of these scouts, Deon is still trying very hard to achieve his great vision - a robot who can think by its own.

The good news is that he got the right formula and found the answer. But he needs to test it on the robots first. His request to use one of the scouts to test was denied by the company as the current scouts business is doing so well. Thus, he stole the scout No.22 which was arranged to be destroyed as it's already broken.

But there's a group of gangster who was trying to capture him at the same time - to made him turn off the robots so that they can do their crime in the city. He was captured by these gangster while he tries to drove off with scout No.22 from the factory. Instead of the plan of making him switching off the robots in town, they made him turned on the No.22 instead with his new formula - to made the robot to help them to steal.

That's how Chappie came to life! Chappie is just like any new born and does not knows anything - he needs to be taught and guide. There's this scene below where Chappie was scared of this liquid thing he pours out from a box. It's actually milk :)

The gangster wanted Chappie to know the 'real life' and left him outside with the other gangster who hates those scouts. He was badly punched, kicked and tortured by them. Although he's just a robot, he has feelings like humans and it's sad to see him crying 'No', 'Please don't this to me' and 'I want to go home' while he was being tortured. I can't stand looking at Chappie being tortured :(

Chappie ran away and met this street dog. You can see how Chappie behaves like a human here. While he was here, he was once again being tortured by Deon's colleague; Vincent Moore who is jealous of Deon's success.

Chappie makes it back home and he was cleaned by Yolandi who Chappie refers as mummy in this movie. Deon continues to teach Chappie and it's amazing that Chappie managed to paint a car portrait when Deon just teach him to paint a few simple stroke.

The gangster continue to teach Chappie bad things to make Chappie part of them.

Chappie did helped them to steal after they lied to him that the money can get Chappie a new body as his fixed battery is running out. Once again, it's sad to see Chappie's hope to get a new body crushed after he knows the truth that there is no new body.

Vincent made a mess with the police robotic system and all the police robots are down. Vincent made the blame on Deon and a green light was given to him to use his robot creation - The Moose to destroy Chappie.

With Chappie's intelligent, Moose was destroyed. However, Deon was stabbed and Chappie's battery is running out. The ending is a bit sucks as it does not how what happen to both of them after they are being transferred to a new body. Yes, Chappie manages to transfer Deon's consciousness into a new robot !

There's a lot of action scene throughout the movie and this is just a summary of the movie. You'll need to watch the movie to know more! Catch Chappie in your nearest local cinema today!

Oh, watch this interesting scene where Chappie is taught to fight like a gangster:

Nuffnang Premiere Screening: Never Lose Focus

Catch Will Smith in action in his latest movie; Never Lose Focus!
Source: Nuffnang
Thanks to Nuffnang Malaysia and Warner Bros. Pictures Malaysia, I was invited to attend the Nuffnang Premiere Screening of Never Lose Focus at TGV 1 Utama few days ago. As pig is not free, went to the preview screening with Jason. :)

Unlike the other action movie such as I am Legend, After Earth and the infamous Men-in-Black, this movie shows a different side of Will Smith. This movie is more of a romance + crime genre.

'Never Lose Focus' follows Nicky (Will Smith); a super intelligent + successful conman who gets romantically involved with a new female friend; Jess (Margot Robbie) who is also a con artist.

I've got some snapshot from the trailer and here's some interesting highlights from the movie:

The starting point of the movie? Jess uses a lonely guy (Nicky) at a restaurant to act as her partner while she escapes from being 'up in the room' with another guy whom she is trying to steal an expensive watch from.

As usual, things lead to the room which makes this movie rated 18+. Don't lose focus by judging from the picture, there's a lie which Jess made here :P Thus, it also leads to the starting of this story.

Jess was impressed with Nicky's skill in misdirection - getting another party's focus on him while he steals away their items without them knowing. Jess wanted to learn from Nicky and she was shown a few examples from Nicky. However, Jess wanted to join Nicky's team and she later found him at a hotel's restaurant after checking out a few hotels. Then, Jess was introduced to Nicky's team and was taught on how to steal/con people. Oh, well she passed the test.

They both got closer to each other and he got Jess a pair of VIP tickets to watch a match.

Source: Nuffnang

Another con scheme happens here at the game. It's interesting :)
Source: Nuffnang

In the conman's world, it says  " There's no room for heart in this game".. and Nicky left Jess ..

Till they meet again 3 years later.. and the con scheme continues. This time, the game involves both of them and their job ties into the game as well.

And this is their reaction during their moment of truth after a few lies overlaps on one another between them.

We laughed throughout the movie at those moment of truth :) and of course the romantic moments between Nicky and Jess! It's more about the romance there on screen and the con scheme drives the storyline.

Get into this romantic feeling with Will Smith today on how love affects his con scheme and go through a journey of him securing his love in the end. Never Lose Focus is now available for viewing at our local cinemas.

Nuffnang Premiere Screening: Kingsman The Secret Service

Thanks to Nuffnang and 20th Century Fox, I was happy to be part of the premiere screening of Kingsman The Secret Service recently. Since pig was unable to took time off for the screening, went with my good friend Jason instead :)

Source: Nuffnang

The movie lasted about 2 hours and 10 minutes excluding the long-winded advertisements shown before that. It's basically a spy action movie and rated R-18 due to the type of words used and actions shown in the movie.
Passes to the premiere screening.

This story follows a super-secret spy agency who had helped to save the world since World War 2. Its spy agent members are known as 'Kingsman' and they camouflage themselves by operating tailor shops specializing in man's suits. The hero of the story; Eggsy went through a different path of his life after he was recommended by senior agent Galahad; also known as Harry to join the team.
You'll go through the journey of how Eggsy transform and trained himself to be a 'Kingsman'. At the same time, this lunatic technology tycoon Richmond Valentine has nothing better to do with his money that he came out with a plan to save the world for the future ~ by reducing the number of populations on Earth. Through the free sim cards given by him to the entire world, it channels a unique sound through the smartphone and controls people to start killing each other. And you'll see how Eggsy saves the world. And it ends with a dirty sex joke between Eggsy and the princess.

There's some horrifying part where people went insane trying to kill each other. You'll see some gory scene of sharp objects being poked through the head, blood everywhere and masses of bodies lying around. And I'm amaze that they put fireworks celebration coming out of the human neck instead of the head flying up to match the scene where Eggsy managed to stop the soldiers from attacking him.

You'll also realize that a free product given out to the mass might eventually be the tool to kill you instead. Next time if you see something given out to the whole world for free, think twice before you queue up for it :)

As for the ending, watch it yourself in the cinemas yeah to know what is this dirty joke about.

Watch the trailer by 20th Century Fox below. It's good enough to tell you the whole storyline.
If you can't view it, follow this link here.

Nuffnang Premiere Screening: Big Hero 6

Last week, I went for the premiere screening of the "Big Hero 6" movie thanks to Nuffnang Malaysia. it's been a long time since I've attend any premiere screening due to timing and location of the screening. But it's good that this screening was held at Paradigm Mall as pig is working there and thus he is able to attend the screening :)

Big Hero 6
Source: Nuffnang Malaysia

Ticket collection starts at about 8.30pm and luckily that I am able to arrive on time :P

We were told to post any pictures of us with Baymax or the movie poster on Instagram and we will get a mystery gift. This sounds fun! And here's pic with Baymax ;)

Guess what I got? Tada..! I receive this Baymax figurine and it's huge compare to those small and tiny figurine. Not a fan of figurine but I can always add this to my collectibles :)

Baymax figurine.

How's the movie?

I think the movie is good! If you have kids, do bring your kids to watch this movie and they will appreciate their siblings more or realize how much their older or younger siblings love them.

The story...

Basically, this movie is about the Hiro Hamada; a young boy who loves robot fighting. He has a genius brother named Tadashi who is a student in an academy specialized in inventing robots for the future to bring a better life to human being. And it is not easy to enter that academy where students need to impress the school directors with their inventions on an exhibition day. And boom, Hiro's mission is changed from robot fighting to getting a pass to enter the best of the best academy.

Oh well, did he get his pass to enroll? Of course, but sadly his beloved brother passed away in a fire when the exhibition was held :(  Yeah, of course he was sad and demotivated. But wait, here's only the start of the story. You will be able to watch Hiro grows up from being a demotivated kid to someone that can save the world.

Okie., So who's Baymax? Baymax is a nurse robot invented by Tadashi and when Tadashi is gone, Baymax accompanies Hiro all the way throughout his journey to save the world.

Baymax in his amour designed by Hiro.

This movie also teaches us that although the one you loved is gone forever; he or she will still be with you in your heart. Physically he is gone but mentally; he's there. This is shown by Baymax where he says Tadashi is in his memory (as in alive) although Hiro told him that Tadashi is gone..

And I love the part where Hiro puts his spirit together to solve the mystery and even get Tadashi's close friends to work together to save the world. Didn't thought that a young boy can be so brilliant that he created unique amour for Tadashi's friends. I think Fred's fire blowing dino amour is kinda kiddy but it suits his personality in the movie.

School holidays is around the corner. Grab your chance and treat you child with a Big Hero 6 movie!

Dialogue in the Dark, Jaya One

Have you heard about Dining in the Dark? I'm sure most of you heard about the restaurant which is located in Changkat Bukit Bintang. I've been there once last year and it was quite interesting except that I've ate venison which I'm not supposed to eat (exotic meat huh). Hmm.. spoil the whole experience :(

Alright. Can you read the Braille words here:

No? Then, it's time for you to learn about the words. It's Dialogue in the dark (DID).

Now, I'm sure you may not be familiar with Dialogue in the Dark. Does this means talking or chatting in the dark? That was my first impression when I heard about this place which is located in Jaya One. This place is founded by Steven Chan and the centre had helped many visually impaired individuals to overcome darkness and lead a normal life.Who's this Steven Chan? Back in May, I'm sure you had heard about a blind man with his guide dog being chased out of a shopping mall in Klang Valley. Well, he's the visually impaired man mentioned in the story. Who's the dog mentioned? It's Lashawn; Malaysia's first guide dog for the visually impaired.

Now, back to our visit to the Dialogue in the Dark centre. It was raining heavily that evening and left the office early so that I can reach on time for the unique experience. Reached there at 5pm and since the session only start 30 minutes later, we snap some shots with the props :)

Pig with the bird from Churp Churp.

Giant Braille writing on the wall

Our session starts at 5.30pm and there was a briefing given before we entered the dark. For those who are going to experience the darkness, do empty your bladder before your session start because there's no toilet in the dark (if there's one, I'm doubt you can make it there and do your business).
Briefing time.

Next, it's time to keep your valuable belongings (all your belongings) in the locker so that we don't lose any of them in the dark room. As there were many of us, we were break into a few groups. Oh, and we were in the first group to enter the dark :)

Before the session starts, we were given one long walking stick which the visually impaired normally use while walking. It helps to guide you while you walk (you can't see because it's total darkness) by hitting the stick on the floor. You'll know that there's a danger or some other objects or person near you when your walking stick hits on it.

With a walking stick on our hand, we're ready to explore the dark. Hmm... you might be wondering why explore rather than a lecture session since the centre is call "Dialogue in the Dark". This centre is a place for you to see from the eyes of a visually impaired person's daily life. You'll be exploring how these visually impaired people think and feel in trying to fit themselves in our society. There's four specially constructed rooms which mimic our daily environments to explore with the help of blind guides. In Malaysia, the four constructed rooms are based on the theme of Cuti-cuti Malaysia in the Dark.

Cuti-Cuti Malaysia with Dialogue in the Dark.

When you enter the specially constructed rooms, you can't see any lights (I'm serious) although you open your eyes as wide as you can. All I did was knocking my sticks to see if there's a wall or someone beside me. Okay, I use the other hand to touch if there's a wall too :P  Our guide, Mimi was there for us.

Cuti-Cuti Malaysia in the Dark
The first thing we need to find after walking in the dark was to search for the bench on the left side and sit on it. I was glad to find a safe area to sit and relax after walking without direction in the dark. While we were sitting on the bench, I can feel that the floor is filled with sands and the surrounding is cold with some wind blowing us. We can hear the birds chirping and some insects creaking too. We were in the middle of a forest reserve in Malaysia. Mimi, our guide asked whether we want to search for the Rafflesia flower which grows in the forest (Okay, here we are in forest reserve in Sabah because Rafflesia grows there). How do we search for the flower when we can't see? Rafflesia has a rotten smell to attract insects to pollinate the plant. Thus, you can use your sense of smell to locate it. But we decline the offer to search for it as we don't want to smell the bad rotten smell :)  Then, pig was chosen to help the group to search for the bridge in the dark as we need to cross the river. When he found it, we all walked towards his direction by listening to his voice (your sense of hearing is important)

The bridge does resemble a real bridge but it's a shorter distance :)  Next, we could hear the water splashing and we're near the waterfall. Then, we just keep walking and Mimi said we walked through a magic or time tunnel and we're back in Kuala Lumpur! Yay! Then, we touched an ATM machine and Mimi asked how do we withdraw money to use when we can't see? We just keep searching for the buttons on the screen and keyboard. Although I can visualize the numbers on the buttons through imagination, it was hard to feel the correct numbered buttons as your finger can press the wrong button which is next to the correct ones. According to Mimi, there's 3 ways the visually impaired can withdraw their money. First, imagine and feel the buttons on the ATM to withdraw themselves (I think training is required before I can press the correct buttons) but it's a bit dangerous as there might be a snatch thieves targeting them. Second way, walk to the bank and withdraw money from the counter itself. Or you can get someone you know or close to you to withdraw it. This is the most risky as the person might cheat all your money :(

Walk further from the ATM, we're said to be visiting the Tugu Negara. Hmm, I presume that we've in Lake Gardens as our National Monument is standing in the lake. And we keep walking and banging our sticks turning left and right, I can feel that we're nearby some shops. Managed to feel the different cooking ingredients in the line of baskets. I managed to identify the pumpkin, onions, brinjal, salted fish, belacan, etccc by touching, squeezing and smelling them. Oh, and the stall next to it is the bookstore where there's a row of books, newspapers and magazines. Then, someone had simply parked their bicycle and blocked our way. Managed to touch the bicycle too.

Next, I remembered there's a motorcycle too and finally a car but I didn't managed to identify the car's brand. It was time to cross the road and thanks god that there's no real cars there or else, I'll be badly hit as I can't see whether there's any car coming in. But I can hear the car's engine sound and the traffic light making the "tick tick tick" / "save to cross road" sound. Imagine if the visually impaired is on a real street, he or she will be putting their lives on your hands. Thus, do help them to get to the safe side when you meet one on the street.

And here we were at the beach. I can hear the sound of strong waves wash up the beach (I miss it since my last visit to Club Med) and there's sand again on the room floor. And there's some beach equipment too like the life jacket (correct me if I'm wrong :P ). Oh, there's a pizza store nearby and we can smell the yummy fresh from oven pizza smell. We were hungry after walking through the dark and I think the time pass so fast without us realize it. Walk further in and we were on our way searching for the chairs to sit. It was a round table with chairs surround it. And it's meal time!

Cuisine in the Dark
From there, we ended our Exploring Cuti-Cuti Malaysia session and begin our Cuisine in the Dark session. We waited for the other groups to arrive before meal was served. Thus we chat with Mimi, our guide and at this moment, we did not know that she was blind and thought that probably she was wearing a google that can see in the dark. Thus,we asked her questions like does she blog, etcc.. questions that a non-visually impaired can do. Soon, some of the groups arrived and our group was the loudest among all haha.

While waiting, we were given some games to play. We were given a small piece of paper printed with Braille. Tried hard to feel how does each alphabet feels like in a Braille writing. I can't remember all the alphabets in Braille system and probably I have giant fingers that the dots seems so small.
Next, we were required to write in dark where one person write a word from the required sentence and passed it to the next person to continue with the next word. I was hard to judge where the previous text was written on the paper as well as the font size. But it was fun!

Soon, everyone arrived and meal was served by Mimi. Meal was courtesy of Mango Chili; a Thai restaurant located in Nexus Bangsar South City which promotes the Food for Good project. For every meal you purchased, Mango Chili will feed a child in need! We were served lemongrass tea; it was refreshing and I accidentally spilled it after that :(

The dinner begins with an appetizer which consist of  mango salad and a spring roll. Mango salad was a bit spicy but I love spicy! And the spring roll was good. Wish that there's more spring roll. Then, there's Tom Yum soup with prawns. It was difficult to peel the shells. Main meal was a round plate filled with Jasmine rice, green curry chicken and another dish which I had chop it down before I can identify it. As everything is served on a plate, I can't see where the side dish is and just scope them in my mouth. But I can feel where's the green curry chicken is as it's served in a small cup on the plate. Our dinner ended with chocolate ice-cream but that's not the end of our adventure. We were then required to search for the flask and pour the tarik into our own cups. Luckily pig was sitting beside me and helped me with it :)

After dinner, some lights were turned on and it was only then we found out that Mimi was blind and feel bad that we had asked her around getting us more drinks and served our food or even asked her questions on things she can't see now. Then, Mr.Steven Chan was there and introduced the other guides in the room. He explained some background stories about the centre and the other guides also tells a short background stories about themselves. I'm proud of them that they are able to conquer their fear for darkness and fit into our society. The Cuisine in the Dark is run by these visually impaired.

Last but not least, Steven Chan brings in Lashawn; the handsome guide dog and we had a wonderful photography session with them. It was hard to capture a nice picture of Lashawn as he's very excited seeing us around and can't sit still. Wish to know more about Lashawn? Follow his page at Dogs for Sight

The many faces of Lashawn.

Would like to thank Nuffnang for organizing this meaningful Dialogue in the Dark #nndialogueinthedark) session for us. It teaches us to see from the blind's perspective and also to appreciate the sight around us when we can still see it. And of course to take good care of our eyes. Besides that, I've also realized how attached I am to pig that I can recognized his voice and smell in darkness. There might be many pairs of hands trying to search for direction the dark but I managed to recognized his :)  I guess I need to remember all these unique traits and might be useful in future in finding myself in darkness.

I'm afraid of Lashawn who's sniffing around.

Pig with Lashawn!
